How to Care for Your Gemstone Jewellery

Most gemstones can be cleaned safely with warm water, a few drops of mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush. Avoid harsh chemicals, chlorine, and abrasive cloths, which can dull a stone’s surface over time.

Not every gem tolerates ultrasonic or steam cleaners — emeralds and opals, for example, are best hand-cleaned only. When in doubt, check the care guidance for your specific gem type before reaching for a cleaning device.

Store pieces separately in soft pouches to prevent harder stones from scratching softer ones, and remove jewellery before swimming, exercising, or applying lotions and perfumes.
